Thank you for the upgrade to 4.4.11, and the confirmation about the Media Server 5 license working with it. I have since upgraded the software and purchased a license, and everything is working well!

I think I may have found the answers anyway, after more searching and playing around with it; in case it's of use to others, though: - ".mp4" files don't seem to work, but renaming it to ".m4v" and having the file folders re-scanned seemed to do the trick.
