Twonky server alternatives for DNS-323?
Anyone know of any media server alternatives that run directly off the DNS-323? I'm sick of dealing with Twonky and their "no support" BS in terms of my NAS. I just want something that streams my movies and music reliably and actually allows my NAS to sleep. Am I stuck running something else off my ...

Tested this out in Twonky Server 6.0 beta 1 --- still the same issue.

Re: Xbox 360 & Twonky: missing artists?
The other peculiar thing that happens to me when trying to browse files through TMS via my NAS on an XBOX 360 is that it crashes sometimes when I try to browse 'artists' (instead of truncating the list). It also does this when I try to play some playlists. I'm pretty sure the two problems are relat...

Re: Xbox 360 & Twonky: missing artists?
I am also experiencing this problem on a Thecus N5200BR Pro. I am currently running TMS 5.1.3a but the problem also occurred in previous versions. Support emailed me back after my nasty reply and said it's a known issue and to be patient. I confirmed it's still an issue up to an including version 5...

Re: Xbox 360 & Twonky: missing artists?
Here's their reply to me: "The NAS builds of TwonkyMedia server are provided "as is" for advanced users who wish to install them at their own risk. We do not provide technical support for these versions. You may find links to these NAS builds along with our latest version 4 and version 5 releases at...

Re: Xbox 360 & Twonky: missing artists?
Email support. I've emailed them 2 times now. Maybe it just hasn't been seen as an issue. I don't think it has to do with artists - I think it is finding a limit on the number of songs. If you go to Genre, you'll probably see that it only shows the first 300 or so files as well... I thought these w...

Ash
I find it only fixes it temporarily. That is, after you play a video, next time you go back in you'll have multiple "By Folder" views again. They keep growing with each video you play.

Xbox 360 & Twonky: missing artists?
Hello there, I've tried multiple versions of Twonky media server running on my D-link DNS-323. Currently I'm on Twonky 5.1.1.RC3. Videos and music all play, however i'm MISSING artists when I go onto my Xbox. I have 1158 albums and 271 artists in my collection. When I bring up albums on the XBOX, I ...

Re: Xbox 360 headache, It will playback ONLY WMV over Twonky
I've recently gone from trying 5.1.2 to using 4.4.18 and now finally to 5.0.68. Under 5.1.2 files weren't being recognized under xbox, specfically .mp4 files. Now with 5.0.68 I can see and play .mp4 although I tend to stick to wmv files so I'm not limited to xbox's 4 GB streaming limit with .mp4 Be ...

Re: Xbox 360 headache, It will playback ONLY WMV over Twonky
Does anybody have an answer for this? I am considering a purchase, but cannot do without the support for xvid or mp4 on x-box. I am not about to convert my entire library to a crap format. I was using simple uShare previously and was able to view these movies via the xBox. The problem seems to be s...

This isn't true. I'm streaming wirelessly and have even managed 720p without lag.

Re: Automatic rescan -1 is not permanently incorporated
Excuse if I answer only now, the bug is now fixed!!! I had to change the user rights of twonkyvision-mediaserver.ini. ,chmod 777!!! No idea why this is so, but after that it worked with the automatic rescan (-1) I hope I was able to hire others to help them. Regards Frank Great! I also had the -1 s...

Re: XVID and TMS 5.040 not working
Well based on some replies I found I un-installed version 5.1.2 and installed the older 4.4.18 and EVERYTHING WORKS!! :D So it's definitely some weird bug in the latest versions of the software that makes the Xbox not recognize the xvid files as valid formats. Strange. But I'm happy now that I can p...

Re: XVID and TMS 5.040 not working
So just for a test I unshared my Video folder with TMS and instead tried using the built in uPnP server on the DNS-323. Same videos but now they play no problem (well it's slower to access initially but the video plays where with Twonky it tells me it's not supported) so I know the video itself is f...

Re: XVID and TMS 5.040 not working
I just today installed TMS 5.1.2 and I'm having the exact error message the original poster was having, namely I get an error when I try to play an xvid file saying the format may not be supported. I used to be able to stream these same files using anothrer media server running on Windows but I went...
