press the 'tools' button on the remote of your TV.
scroll down to 'picture size' and select either 'mode 1' or 'mode 2'
that should fix your problem. I have to do it sometimes with my own TV

BIG thanks for the work involved in getting MKVs working on my 2010 Samsung!!
I have a UA40C6900 LED. They dont work on my Samsung BluRay player, but reading the above post, i should change the type to Samsung TV and that should fix it.

i rekon you should buy the tv that you want, the fact that you can stream something should be secondary to picture quality and picture enhancing functions. that said, the samsungs work well with almost every file format except MKVs....... well, thats what im finding. eventually they will get there a...

thanks for posting that! however, I couldnt get it to work. The newly renamed AVI is no longer in the list as per normal. And when i press play on an MKV, it actually starts playing, but all i hear is some audio that is VERY broken up. then it fails with 'incorrect file format' Im about to try it on...
