It seems to be that you're right. They are only threads but why the number of threads increases continuously?

Reducing number of twonky processes
Hey, I successfully installed twonky server (6.0.30) on my debian server but there is one problem. On startup there are 27 twonky processes (/usr/local/twonkymedia/twonkymediaserver -D). This could be okay but as time went on this number increases up to 50 (and maybe more). After restart all is fine...
