You can copy the files using FTP to your Synology. Switch on FTP temporarily via DSM.
I did this on my DS108J. Just copy the files to the twonky-folders on your NAS.
You might want to stop Twonky before copying, then start it afterwards.
Hope this helps.

Re: Install Twonky on Synology Nas Drive
I was mistaken in my earlier post.
See my latest post where I'm referring to twonkymedia-config.html
Still, I'm not 100% sure it'll help, but it's worth a try.

Re: Install Twonky on Synology Nas Drive
I'm guessing that http://127.0.0.1:9000/rpc/set_option?ip=127.0.0.1 changes a setting in the config files of Twonky. If I look at twonkymedia-config.html , I can see two entries for an IP-adress. Try changing these to the correct IP-adress and see if this solves your problem. Use DSM file browser to...

Re: Install Twonky on Synology Nas Drive
Extract the downloaded zipfile to your pc, then run nassetup.exe. Click on Accept, then enter your NAS ip (something like 192.168.1.xxx), user (root) and password, press continue. The installation should start copying files and finally start the twonkyserver on your Nas. Update : just noticed the ki...

Re: Install Twonky on Synology Nas Drive
Check out http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/6.0.31-RC6/ . This lists all Twonky versions for NAS, including Synology. Because of the different types of processors used by Synology in their products, you first need to find out which one is used in your DS221j and select the Twonky-build accordingl...

Re: Can't play files from Twonky using VLC
Is it just me or are you trying to defeat the whole purpose of Twonky by playing direct links in VLC?
If I remember correctly, VLC supports uPnP/DLNA, so you could just connect to Twonky and play what you like......
(somebody correct me if I'm completely wrong...)

Re: small photos
Have you done the firmware upgrade to 1.0.4 (on the DMA-2500) ?
I have some problems with displaying pictures via uPnP/DLNA since the upgrade: they show correctly via Samba, but return a "Error 503: invalid format" when viewed viaTwonky.
On 1.0.3 both methods worked flawlessly.

The service provider I've been using for the 'Status of Twonkymedia on various NAS' listing is unfortunately giving up on free web hosting. Some more info would be nice if you want someone to help you..... For instance: How is this disk connected? Is it a USB drive, a network-drive, a disk inside a pc? What does your setup look like? Media players / network / pc's etc. If you provide more detail, we might be able to help. Jeroen

The installation goes without any trouble. You're right. I'm just not able to reach the config-page (<ip>:5000...

Browsing by Folder starts from the directory you entered on the configuration-screen. Would it help if you changed the directory there to one level higher?

If I understand correctly, you are running Twonky on your pc. Maybe your firewall is blocking the specific port?

In TV you can specify a directory where your compilations / mix-albums are located. I think this was used to avoid the problem you decribe.
