duh, of course, the mapping only exists for the user and not for the system local account where the service runs.

I guess nevermind.
Although this should work, I put the full UNC in the shared folder path and the server is now scanning the library.
btw, I used the IP address so that it didn't even have to use DNS to look it up.

Problem with 7.3
I have always used network shares as the source of music files. although you can add a folder like, y:\media\music, the server does not appear to read any of the data. y: is a mapped network share; it is mapped to \\drobo-fs\public. v7.2.6 had no such problem.
