Yes, it is possible with other UPNP servers which have transcoding support, something that Twonky is still a bit weak on. Hopefully, that will change soon. I have tried transcoding, these other servers have got audio transcoding to work very well, but they still need to work on improving video trans...

Improved FLAC Transcode Support
Is there any plans to improve the FLAC transcoding support? Particularly in Roku clients. I sometimes have to attempt to play a song twice to get it to work properly.

I have the exact same problem with my playlists. I temporarily got them working, but I am not sure if they will continue to work or will I start getting this problem again. Anyway, this seems to help, but I am not 100% sure if it will help forever. Since you are on a Linux-based NAS, open up the fil...

Playlist Problems
Does anyone here have playlist problems with Twonky v4.4.2? For me, my playlists will sometimes disappear. Also, when I have playlists, I noticed that Twonky behaves very odd. Cidero will have trouble accessing the Twonky server and the Roku will have trouble detecting it during startup. Does anyone...

TwonkyMedia is an excellent upnp server software. It is very stable and rarely crashes. However, one weakness with the software is transcoding. There is a lack of support for transcoding various formats. Especially for video, there are so many codecs. Wihin XviD alone, there are multiple codecs. Thu...

Latest Version of Twonky
How can I check if a newer version of Twonky is out? I have 4.4.2. But where on the website does it indicate that the latest version of Twonky is 4.4.2? So when 4.4.3 comes out, I can check if I have the latest version. Thanks.

Roku M1001 FLAC transcoding problem
I am having issues with my Roku M1001 and FLAC transcoding. I noticed that when I try to play a FLAC file on the Roku, it will play some FLAC files but not others. It is completely random. The FLAC files that play will always play and the ones that refuse to play refuse to do so. In fact, this varia...

While I don't have a solution, I can confirm the issue. When I browse my music, FLAC does not list the album art while it does for MP3 files. I do this browsing though http://192.168.1.92:9000/webbrowse (or whatever the location is for your copy of Twonky). I have version 4.4.

Ubuntu Feisty has 2.6.20 kernel version, so that cannot be the reason. If you try to use -1 with a kernel lower than 2.6.12.x (x can't remember the exact level) it is not supported, -1 does some kind kernel query that can't be handled with lower level. I have mine set to 0 and when I download someth...

-1 Rescan Support
Hello. I have installed Twonky on my Ubuntu Linux desktop computer, which is always on, and it is pretty powerful. However, one issue I have is with setting rescan to -1. If I do, save, and restart, it goes back to 60 minutes. Currently, I have set it to "1" minute. Is setting it to one minute bad? ...

Thinking About Getting Twonky
I am thinking about getting Twonky. But I am a bit concerned that the product is getting expensive, especially since I have two servers in my house, thus I have to spend $80 on two licenses. Is this right? Has Twonky gotten this expensive?
