Re: playing MKV on a PS3?
isn't the whole point of 5.x to allow transcoding?
isn't MKV transcoding a key use case for PS3?
how can twonky not be jumping on this demand.... they can obsolete some of these converters (and from this thread you can tell there are plenty of them).

Re: TMS is constantly telling me that there is a restart pending
i repro'ed this problem with 4x and 5x as well. it's intermittent, and i don't have exact workaround steps - i seem to recall playing with the rescan setting seemed to fix things for me.

Re: Search ability
I don't think you're missing anything... I haven't seen a DLNA client that allows searching, but I haven't seen a lot of clients.
I have seen searching on non-DLNA setups, like SqueezeCenter.

Re: no rescan at system startup
+1
With a large library, this scan takes a long time and is resource intensive. I believe the default should be reverted back to the 4.x behavior: no scan on startup.

Thecus N5200 - tips on how to setup transcoding?
I'm a long time 4.x user and I'm evaluating 5.0.55 on my Thecus N5200. So far it's running as well as 4.4.9, but the only reason I can see to upgrade would be transcoding support which I've been unable to setup. Can anyone help get me started? How can I install vlc or ffmpeg on the N5200, for example?

Re: Hints Thecus N5200 Twonkymodule 2.00.14 Twonkyservr 5.0.46
watchout for the default behavior of this module - it uses /raid/data as the default share folder, so as soon as you start it it will start a scan (and may run into the issue you're seeing with the scan, depending on what files are present). you may want to try changing that share path before enabli...

5.x: "Unable to connect to Mediafusion server..."
I'm a long-time 4.x user who is evaluating 5.x. I clicked on Media Feeds and I get the following message:
"Unable to connect to Mediafusion server. Please check if your internet connection is active."
How can I debug this?
(5.0.55 running on a Thecus 5200 Pro (Linux).

Re: Anyone try the PS3 2.60 FW yet?
I haven't noticed any change in behavior with FW 2.60 and TV 4.49.
And yes the photo app only works with local files, not making it very useful for TV users.

Re: THECUS-5200 and shares on other devices
Can you access the shares from the thecus (via a ssh console, for example)? I don't think Twonky will care or want to know that those shares are not on the 5200, it will just access them like the 5200 would. btw, for Thecus chat, even about Twonky, you may want to go here: http://thecususergroup.pro...

Re: Whats the story with TwonkyMedia Server and NAS Support?
When I bought my 4.x.x license, Twonky provided installs for NAS devices like my D-Link DNS 323. That install is why I purchased it, and what I was expecting to continue to receive through 4.x.x. Is it possible to post the NAS installs for the remaining 4.x.x versions? What is the last version which...

Re: Are You Happy With Your PS3's Media Client capabilities?
I'm satisfied enough to use it farily often, but I don't find the media playback features as powerful as I would expect - a couple I want: Queuing. I'd like to be able to pick the next song, or folder/album to play and create a queue on the fly. I don't want playlist creation support, although that ...

Re: PS3 Video Streaming Problems Since 2.40 / 2.41?
I can confirm that this fix worked for me. Also, I didn't have to restart the TM server after the change, but I did have to re-search for media servers and re-access the server from the PS3 XMB.
Thanks for the fix info!

Random memory usage
I've seen different values for the "Used memory", as reported near the top of the server stats config page, for the same collection of files. I've been moving between the recent betas, and this usage has been changing drastically - sometimes the usage tops out at ~9MB, and with the 4.4B4 release it'...

What's the ultimate HW MediaServer client?
I'm looking for a HW client dedicated for mp3 music (not internet radio) being served by TwonkyVision. I'm mostly interested in the usability of browsing and finding my music(full ID3 tag support is a must, but album art support would be ideal), playing the music (shuffle support and ways to play mu...
