4.4.3 Beta 1 solves this problem
I installed the Beta, and now my AAC .M4A files play fine. (I also have PS3 system 2.0 installed; I don't know if that makes a difference.)

Support for AAC on PS3 for NAS devices
Please add support to allow playing AAC M4A (iTunes) audio files on the PS3.
This applies at least to NAS devices, as they generally can't do transcoding to MP3 on-the-fly, which might be possible for a PC, I understand. (I refer to the D-Link DNS-323 specifically.)

Re: Twonky (4.4.2) PS3 (1.9) and G4PowerPC Mac: Unsupported
I've pointed to alot of content in the Twonky Config page, most of which is .mp4 AAC files (about 12000 of them), plus pictures from iPhoto's library, and some video files which are converted for iTunes play back, which I'm not concerned about at the moment...but from what I've read, they are the s...

Re: PS3 and iTunes AAC encoded music
I ripped my classical music collection using iTunes default of AAC mpeg4, so all files are m4a. Using Twonky 4.4, my xbox 360 will see and play the m4a files, but the PS3 lists them all as "unsupported data". What is really odd is the PS3 will read the tags so I can see the artist, album name, etc,...

komp, can you clarify exactly which files to delete? I'm going to give your suggestion a try but I don't want to cause any damage... I'm unable to stream my AVC mp4 files from my NAS (HP MediaVault) to my PS3. They show up as Unsupported Data, though I can play them fine from a thumbdrive. I haven'...

I found this in the PS3 manual ( source ): File names for data that is stored on servers that are not compliant with DLNA may have an asterisk appended to the file name. In some cases, these files cannot be played on the PS3â„¢ system. Also, even if the files can be played on the PS3â„¢ system, it ...
