Using "composer" sub-tree only for classical music ?
I'd like to restrict the "by composer" branch in the navigation tree of my Twonky server v6.0.38 installation to genre="Classical" only. That branch seems to be created with this paragraph in view-definitions.xml: <container name='composer' id='music/composers' createClass='object.item.audioItem.m <...

Tweaking translations to local language - how ?
Is there a practical way for me to modify Twonky server's German language translation for "playlists" as presented in the menu tree ? What's displayed is "Wiedergabelisten"; I'd like that to be "9 - WIedergabelisten". I'm hoping that will allow me to change the sorting order. I found a strings-de.tx...

Rebuild playlists ? (6.0.38)
The 6.0.38 Twonky server on my Buffalo Linkstation mini fails to create my custom playlists upon starting or restarting. Rescanning media files won't help; my only workaround is to have it rebuild the db. Is there any way (startup parameter, rpc action, ...) other than a db rebuild to make it (re-)c...

Re: Items under "Genre" showing up in strange sort order
Thanks again, phibertron. And, ok, your $1000 bet on Red is clearly a winning one. I've since adjusted the 'genre' values (using mp3tag) and that " secondary genre" issue is gone now; it's now "secondary genre", just as it should. I take your point about the translation to be about how to simply byp...

Re: Items under "Genre" showing up in strange sort order
Thanks very much for your inputs, phibertron. I know that the "," delimited feature was added back 5.x The result of titles being in both genre in my opinion is expected behavior if you have a genre tag of "Jazz,Swing" it should be in both genre's Yes, that's what I thought as well; I just noticed t...

Items under "Genre" showing up in strange sort order
In order to not have too many entries under "genre", I'd long ago decided to use values such as "Jazz, Swing" along with the base values ("Jazz", in this case). Under Twonky v4, these were treated as atomic, while v6 seems to consider them as a comma separated list, resulting in the respective title...

Re: Saving a playlist to the server - can 4.4.4 handle this
Thanks for pointing out the importance of using the -appdata switch; I've now added that to the startup file. So, finally, after a license glitch that got resolved today with the help of Twonky support, I'm finding that saving a playlist from Twonky Mobile to the 6.0.38 version of Twonkyserver still...

MP3 "rating" tags - supported ?
Version 2.49 of the mp3tag tool supports 3 variants of ratings: WMP, MM, WinAmp. I seem to recall that I came across a post from a while back stating that at that time, only iTunes type ratings were supported by Twonky Server. Does Twonky Server v6 support any of these MP3 tags ? I tried with v4 and...

Re: Saving a playlist to the server - can 4.4.4 handle this

The upgraded licenses I purchased today isn't accepted (will wait for a response from support) and the trial license declared itself expired pret...

Re: Saving a playlist to the server - can 4.4.4 handle this
Thanks, Rick; from what you described, I feel comfortable about proceeding. I have already enabled and made use of root access to the Linkstation via telnet. I think there's two more things that I'll need to know to get going: 1) Are all the changes from v4 to v5 or v6 restricted / constrained to th...

Re: Saving a playlist to the server - can 4.4.4 handle this
Thanks for the follow-up, Rick. I would very much appreciate if someone could point me at a set of instructions for manually upgrading a Linkstation Mini (the older version thereof, unfortunately - LS-WSGL/R1) to Twonky v5 or above. Of course, I'd prefer a "standard" installation package, but I don'...

Saving a playlist to the server - can 4.4.4 handle this ?
Just tried out Twonky Mobile, and found it interesting that it tries to save a playlist to "the library". I'm not quite sure I understand the ideas here ... I'd be curious to understand if that means that once the playlist is saved and the renderer isn't by tablet (android), I can then turn the tabl...

Re: WMP 11 / Vista as client does not see custom folder tree
For all of the three UPnP servers on my home network, I have specific / different custom navigation trees set up. All of my "hardware" type UPnP clients (including a couple NOXON devices and a WD TV streaming media player) will see these ok. WMP displays the same navigation tree for all three server...

.m3u playlist - IE "cannot display this web site"
My Twonky server (version 4.4.4 on a Buffalo LinkStation Mini NAS) generates a playlist on the fly when I click the little arrow for an album in the "PC Connect" interface. (side note: I've noticed a few threads about version 5 no nonger supporting this capability) However, my IE v8 says that it can...

Re: Bogus entries in "Genre" tag ?
Following up after some more experimentation: 1) After re-writing all "A Capella" tags and hence making sure they don't just LOOK the same in mp3tag, but actually ARE all set to the very same value, that problem went away. So, that problem might have been caused by mp3tg doing some formatting when p...

WMP 11 / Vista as client does not see custom folder tree ?
My LinkStation Mini has a customer folder tree set up. When I connect from WMP 11 on Vista, it doesn't see that - instead, it seems to see kind of a default structure. Why would that be so - is "Windows Media Connect" getting in the way somehow ? In addition, it seems that WMP only sees a subset of ...

Hey, great, this "Generic music only receiver" settings works for me, on TM 4.4.2 - thanks !!
And unless someone convinces me that 4.4.4 is so much better, I won't migrate.

Werner

This is on WinXP, with TwonkyMedia 4.4.2. Following some remarks of others in this forum that occasionally, removing the DB makes the server find things it wouldn't before, I've gone ahead and removed "twonkymedia.main.db". Well ... after a re-scan and server restart, it's still running, and has not...

I've recently upgraded to 4.4.2, and it seems that while my playlists can still be found, none of the titles contained in the playlists can be found.
