I'd like to buy a PS3 but this issue is a killer for my buying decision.

Sorry to butt in like that, but where did you find a 4.4.3.1 download for TeraStation? I only seem to find 4.4.2.. Try http://www.twonkyvision.com/Download/TwonkyMedia/TM4Technicians.html I downloaded the "Buffalo TeraStation Pro (PPC)" version which says in the revision histroy that it is a 4.4.3.1.
