Hm... this page implies that at least one Venus enclosure might be based on a RDC2882 chipset I guess you'll need to open it up and have a squint at the chips.. Once you know the actual chipset, it may be possible to find a compatible firmware or application package, or even to build it specifically...

Can you describe the NAS box at all? Maybe post a link to the eBay auction? There are rather a lot out there, and it's hard to answer the question otherwise.
