Re: Why won't Twonky scan network drives?
Incidentally, I came across this after having problems with the linux version (which is on the same box as the media). The linux one kept bombing out whilst my WD TV Live was browsing. Discovered it wasn't killing itself when I told it to stop! The linux init script relies on the killall command, w...

Re: Why won't Twonky scan network drives?
I don't know specifically why it does not work, but it's a REALLY bad idea to serve media up across a network, where the source lives on a network, it's killing the bandwidth stressing the NIC and you may have problems with duplexing. If your media is on another server, ideally you should install T...

Why won't Twonky scan network drives?
Hi folks,
Just installed Twonky 5.1.2 on Win 7 and my video is on a network drive but Twonky refuses to scan it.
Any ideas why?
Cheers.
Paul.

Re: Twonky Web Interface just sits there doing nothing?
That's not the issue I have. The server works, serves files, is updating itself however most of the time I can't actually access the web interface because it just sits there. Never 404s or anything, just never returns the pages. Also noticed it seems to pick up default shares of everything on the co...

Twonky Web Interface just sits there doing nothing?
Hi folks, I keep occasionally getting this with Twonky. I go to http://192.168.1.2:9000/config and the page just sits. I just upgraded to 5.1.2 hoping it'd fix the problem but it doesn't seem to have. I'm on Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic) and followed the same install instructions as always. I can't find any ...

It uses 100% of the CPU on my 1986 intel 286 CPU... Tell us what hardware and system config, or even ANYTHING about your setup, and someone might actually help you out. The problem is, the shops are all out of crystal balls at the moment. http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3922 Well tha...

Twonky using >50% CPU when serving MP4
Does anyone know why this might be? It works fine for a while then all of a sudden the CPU usage jumps causing the PS3 to stutter. This is low (2Mbps) bitrate MP4 with 2 channel AAC, it works fine most of the time but occasionally starts eating CPU time? Any help appreciated as it's annoying the hel...

Re: TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 is available for download
Are there any news from Twonky support in this case ? I have changed from TwonkyMediaServer 4.4.2 to TwonkyMediaServer 5.0.46. In version 4.4.2 I have had a menu named "Internet Radio". In Version 5.0.46 this point has gone. But where are they gone ? Don't be silly ;) If you look at the rest of the...

If you bought 4 fairly recently email twonky support and they should upgrade the key for you. Re: TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 is available for download
There also appears to be no way to stop it doing it's initial scan which is stupid. As far as I'm concerned this release is buggy as hell compared to 4.4.9. Kinda what I was afraid of. Meanwhile, the * is kicking arse left and right. I say it's really rather sad that TwonkyVision has left a once so...

Twonky 5.0.46 not listing VOBs??
I've just upgraded to this and have been ripping my DVDs with DVD Decrypter into single VOB files. It's running on XP Pro and serving a PS3.
Twonky isn't showing these, it's showing two VOB files which don't actually exist on my server?
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Paul.

Re: TMS 5.0 don't work well with large media libraries
Same problem here.....and it means I can't currently use Twonky as it defaults to My Music when it gets installed and does a scan immediately which you can't halt.
I'm going to email support about this as it's a complete show stopper.

There also appears to be no way to stop it doing it's initial scan which is stupid. My music directory contains 20k+ tracks and version 5 can't cope with it and crashes. Does this fix the issue I have with my PS3 where it's showing 2 copies of most files in my library? Also leaving out vob files with a lowercase extension!
4.4.9 didn't do it. Should I force a rescan?
Cheers,
Paul.

Odd. Never had mkvs working on the PS3 through anything as unless Twonky remuxes on the fly the PS3 doesn't support them?
I just remux to either vob or m2ts.

Re: x264 - H264/AVC - incompatible data?
Not sure the PS3 supports h264 in an avi container?
Try demuxing them and putting them in an m2ts container or a vob. All my h264 stuff is either .ts, .m2ts or .vob.

Re: Some AVI do not work!!
AVI is a container format, it can contain any number of different video and audio codecs.
Download http://avicodec.duby.info/ or something similar and it'll tell you the audio and video codecs used. Obviously not all of these are supported on the PS3.

If you read my topic I just posted, it seems they don't even care about signing up new users because no-one responds to billing/support problems.
It's very unfortunate as it works really well.

Does nobody monitor Twonky's support/billing email?
I tried to purchase a license on Saturday. For whatever reason (the server just says an error occurred) it didn't work and said to email (whatever) to get it sorted. In 3 days I''ve had no response. Can anyone here help or get in touch with whoever needs to deal with this? If my money is taken and I...

Does anyone know this or is it something Sony will never tell?
You can play DTS DVDs (I assume) so why can't it just pass the DTS bitstream from VOBs or any other files?

I have read people mentioning about a single .VOB file but I don't know if that is just a single movie or something else. Can anyone expand? Basically on a DVD the VOBs are split at 1GB (I think) whereas using DVD Decrypter you can tell it to create one large VOB file with the movie, soundtrack etc...

Oddly enough when I told my PS3 to find media servers it said it hadn't found any but Twonky was sitting there in the list so it had actually found it.

Re: Are You Happy With Your PS3's Media Client capabilities?
There's a few things that annoy me about the PS3 as a media streamer: - Won't send DTS bitstreams from mkv, avi, vobs etc, only from DVDs playing in the drive. - Won't convert WMA 5.1 streams to AC3 - Stupid 2GB limit on certain files Otherwise it's ok, would be nice if it natively supported the mkv...
