and then rename the extension from .xml to .old or dot whatever you want, just not .xml

I also had problems with 7.3 doing permanent requests out to the internet I'll assume you are talking about using http links in a playlist? If yes then that was a known issue with 7.3, if not, no idea... However company wise a have a bad feeling about Twonky. No idea where they are heading, but see...

I tested using twonky-powerpc-glibc-2.2.5-7.2.8.zip on my WD MBL
and it worked as expected
I suspect that its either a qnap nas specific issue
or something to do with the way its being started stopped and or restarted

Do try disabling the sleep mode and see if it fairs any better
