Running 5.1.2 (Linux ARM NAS) to PS3 on a 100Mbit wired ethernet, and not has ANY problems whatsoever with any file formats. Are these your own files, or some random things downloaded? In other words, how can you be sure the files don't have dodgy MPEG B-Frames or other problems? I know VLC is very ...

I have asked for a ticket to be raised to look at this. The problem to me seems the wide range of devices that Twonky supports, low cpu power on a fast network (in which case it's better to NOT rescale), or high power PC on slow networks (better to rescale), and the worse of all slow PC on slow netw...

You might want to look at a SheevaPlug, which runs Twonky very nicely and uses minimal power, comes with Ubuntu pre-installed, and does Samba filesharing out the box. http://www.plugcomputer.org/ I'm massively impressed with the flexability I have with mine, it's less than 2W, always on server, that...

Re: Newest 5.1.2 doesn't work for streaming to XBox 360
Don't be so fast to blame the server. The Xbox is a poor media client, it's not DLNA compliant, nor is it UPnP either, it needs serverside workarounds to get it working.
The only real way to fix it, is vote with your wallets, support standards, DLNA for example.

Well, I agree that it is somewhat annoying that they removed the ADAPTCASE feature. BUT, on the other hand it never was perfect, either. Re: Why won't Twonky scan network drives?
I don't know specifically why it does not work, but it's a REALLY bad idea to serve media up across a network, where the source lives on a network, it's killing the bandwidth stressing the NIC and you may have problems with duplexing. If your media is on another server, ideally you should install Tw...

No, you either need to continue to use 4.x, or buy an upgrade licence.
If you want a 5.x licence, there is a promotion on at the moment..

The options in the web interface are for background transcoding, where the system will transcode your files when the system is idle. It seems you are after on-demand transcoding, that is different. Apparently it's a Sony problem, it does not send any hints on the type of media that needs to be filtered, so Twonky can only send the entire tree.
