Dreambox as a Twonky client?

Post by barf52 » Tue Jul 03, 2007 5:24 pm

Is it possible to use a dreambox satellite receiver, for example a DM500S or DM7025, as a Twonky client?

If yes, which firmware do I need (for the DM500).

Thanx.

you must use the Gemini 3.50 or 3.60 image, then download and install the plugin for upnp.

In the blue panel menu go to Extras / Settings. Select UPnP and enable the UPnP client.

Thats all.

you can find the files in File Mode: root/mnt/upnp

UPnP Dreambox

Post by trazom » Sat Jul 28, 2007 6:51 pm

Hi

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

You really made my day. I 've tried so many things (and surfed so long) before finding your simple answer to my question, how to use my Dreambox 7925 as a UPnP client. I now can access my mp3 files and play them on my stereo.

Please allow two questions:
1. I have organised all my files by Folder: Goup or Composer -> Album -> Tracks: each track is numbered from 1 onwards. Now Twonky reflects this in the Folders. On my Dreambox the tracks are listed ALPHABETICALLY in the folders - the numbers on the trackname are not shown. Any idea how to make that also Dream takes this numbers.

My folder:
01 Let it Be
02 Hey Jude
03 All you need is Love

Dreambox Player:
All you need is Love
Hey Jude
Let it Be

---

2. I have also FLAC files to listen to - but they do not appear on the Dreambox Player - do I miss something?

Thank you very very much for your help -

Andrea

Hello,

ok, I installed now the Gemini 3.50, enabled also the uPnP feature. I knew, there was also a Dreambox Plugin from Twonky, but cannot find it anymore. Does somebody still have the link? I spent the whole morning browsing the Inet ! :(

Thanks

Update:

I installed now Gemini 3.6 and also Twonky Plugin for DM7020.

Now, how do I get now the files to stream on the Screen of the Dreambox?

There must be something, I didn't see yet.

Can somebody help, please?

Yes, I saw it on DDC. But I thought, there could be a Mediaplayer with an Interface, like if you would look at the screen on my NOXON Player.

Is there nothing like that?

I hope I understand you right: Then try this:

Go to MENU - choose MediaPlayer

there go to the second folder (not the HDD) - click - then choose mnt - then upnp - and then you find your twonky folder - and can play the songs with that.

If you wish something more elaborated as client, continue to wrtie to the developers of Gemini to PLEASE do something about it

Ciao
