I'm currently testing Twonky Media server 4.4.2 on a Buffalo Linkstation and a EPIA VIA 600Mhz Windows PC. My homenetwork is wired 100Mb.
As streaming clients I'm using a
-XBOX360 (w. fall update enabling Divx playback from Twonky!)
-Kiss DP1600 media player
-Vista Ultimate PC w. WMP11
My content is mostly:
MP3/WMA/WMV/DivX in AVI
I'm very happy with the streaming results on both Twonky servers with both XBOX360 and Kiss DP1600.
I'm also very pleased with the performance and the memory footprint of the Twonky server even on my old Linkstation.
However, with WMP 11 connecting to both Media servers the experience is a little bit flaky.
Problems I'm seeing on WMP11 are:
-The music titles are not listed properly, e.g. the same Album is sometimes shown split as two seperate Albums.
-Music playback is all working fine with MP3 and WMA
-Video playback is working fine for WMV files
-DivX playback is not working at all on WMP11 from the Twonky Media server. When i start playback of the DivX AVI file the WMP11 just hangs forever. I have to kill Media Player. However, I can play DivX files locally, from a network share or using Windows Media Connect. I tried also ffdshow and the original DivX codecs, there is no difference as far as playback from Twonky is concerned.
Is this a known issue? I'm not sure if this is just a WMP11 problem because WMP11 plays just fine from a PC running Windows media Connect.
Any hint is appreciated to fix the last missing piece for my multimedia household!
