Hi all,
My configuration is a WD My Book Live and a Samsung TV UE40D6200.
My Twonky version is 6.0.34, installed on the My Book Live following this tutorial:
http://community.wdc.com/t5/My-Book-Liv ... d-p/119792
Twonky 6.0.34 fixed major issues (MKV and SRT), however I still cannot see the JPG thumbnails for my videos.
The files are named using the format: "video.avi" / "video.jpg" and are in the same folder, however when browsing the files with the Samsung TV, only the grey video camera icon appears. Same thing using the "folder.jpg" approach.
However, if I use Twonky 6.0.34 installed on my Windows 7 PC instead of the My Book Live, the thumbnails are displayed correctly when browing video files on the TV.
I am wondering if anyone had the same issue and figured how to solve this.
I would appreciate any help
Thanks
François

Re: Video thumbnails with WD My Book Live and Samsung TV
I finally figured what's wrong with the Twonky NAS versions that prevents to display the cover thumbnails associated with videos ("video.avi"/"video.jpg")
This seems to be an issue for a lot of people around here and no effective solution can be found on the web, therefore I thought that I should share my solution with you:
The NAS versions of Twonky (that you can download here: http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/6.0.34/) do not usually include the "convert" file in their cgi-bin folder. This seems to prevent twonky to resize and convert the jpg files associated to the videos, and eventually to display them
In my case, I was using the following version for My Book Live (ppc version):
http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/6. ... 6.0.34.zip
(you can notice that the cgi-bin folder does not contain the "convert" file)
The solution is to get the file from another source, e.g. the linux PC version (which contains the file in its cgi-bin folder): http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/6. ... 6.0.34.zip
Then copy this file using e.g. WinSCP to the twonky/cgi-bin folder of your NAS, and it should work fine. A twonky server reset and/or a rebuild of the database might be required though
Side notes:
1. the jpg files are converted only once and not updated again. Hence if for some reason you need to change the jpg associated to a file, a rebuild of the twonky database will be necessary
2. with a Samsung TV, the folder thumbnails still do not work (using either folder.jpg or Folder.jpg) but I am pretty convinced that it is due to the TV itself and not Twonky (folders are displayed on the Samsung TV with a yellow icon that I cannot find among the twonky files)

Thanks for sharing this. I'm passing this on to our engineers to see if this can be fixed in future updates.
