does the tv have separate sections for photos music and videos
as an example, the ps3 does
and if you are not on the right branch, you will not see all the items

yes it does. it has video, photo, and music.
I am in video when I try to play the files.
I see the folders, but the files are not there.

I use to have these movies on my cpu which I setup as a server and my tv played them fine.

Update. Now some of them show up, and I can play a few. It seems most that say "unrecognized file type" in wmp don't show up even though the file types are a mix of avi and mp4. But there are others that are recognized file types that still don't show. Can't really figure out a pattern yet.

Things are getting better. It looks like I have to find out why they are unknown file types.

Any suggestions?

I would look up the manual for the make and model of your tv
and see if supported types are listed
or maybe they have a list on there site

The file types are supported. I have watched all these movies before on my tv using the dnla on the tv...

There is a thing with sharp and wmp that in order for the tv to see a file. With my old cpu server I had to have wmp open when I copied the movies onto the cpu server for my tv to see it.......

I am thinking I might return the buffalo nas(kind of unhappy with the nas' setup not twonk) and try something else or go back to using my cpu as a server....

Just too much of a head ache.
Thanks for all your help.

yeah that does sound like a headache

did you check twonky to see if its detecting the tv correctly and assigning the right profile?

If I can think of anything to try, I'll post it
