Compatibility with Pioneer Elite plasmas?

My Pioneer Elite Pro-940HD has a built in media server. I can use TwonkyVision to display short video clips. But...
DVDs ripped as folders of VOBs will play for a few moments, then fail. I can fast-forward through the entire VOB, but not play it.
Large multi-GB TS files, like 6 GB, also cannot play, although the device is supposed to support it. It says "content playback failed" with no other error description.
