Freecom MusicPal

Post by k1200rs » Fri Oct 26, 2007 6:30 am

Just got the Freecom MusicPal.
Wow....
I have already couple of SLA5520' and MP101'
The MusicPal is something else.
1) Very user friendly (compared to the SLA5520 and MP101)
2) Internet radios also available directly (without PC)
3) Wake-up and Sleeper timer (with music)
4) Works great with TwonkyVision
5) Very easy set-up
6) There is a built-in speaker (sound is a good as a built-in speaker) that you can disable to connect to the HI-FI
7) RSS (support RSS streams for news, etc.). I did not test it yet
8) You can configure the MusicPal remotely from IE on PC
9) No remote control, but frankly, I am not complaining about that
Really impressive and cheap.

I bought it on-line on the freecom.com site
Really a great piece of Hardware compared to my previous 2 players.
Works great in WIFI as well.

Just saw your question, 2 years after I posted my first view on the MusicPal I would not recommend it anymore.
Great firmware, great and unique features but unlike what I said 2 years ago it has a poor HW (one of my 3 is broken) and not a good sound.
Nowadays there are much better UPNP/DLNA players and the Philips NP series (as an example) is for me much better (because of the built quality and sound). True the MusicPal is cheaper than the NP2500 or NP2900 but as a user I know why.
