Thanks for all the replies
But seriously, I bought a wifi Vistron MX200i, which connects to Twonky via UPNP and whilst the latest and greatest firmware doesn't play FLAC files, I changed to a Sharpfin base firmware and then added a - what seems like - fairly generic firmware for Reciva based Internet Radios and Media Streamers and it works first time streaming FLAC from the NAS.
Not perfect Audio, but then it's for my eldest boys bedroom and it means I don't have to maintain a FLAC and an MP3 library of tracks and actually it has an output to run some active speakers, so he's not going to complain too much
Oh and a FLAC capable client able to stream via Twonky from a NAS... and all for less than £50
