Hi folks,
just purchased 40" 750 and using Samsung Media share software i was able to play 99% of movies from my PC.
Since I have QNAP TS-509 Pro with Twonky 4.4.9 installed I wanted to use
it to stream the content to the TV but every time I try to load video content
I get error - format not supported ( Pictures and music works fine)
Any idea where is my problem ? ( Yes the same video will play via Samsung Media share from my PC)

Thanks

UPDATE: I tried to play DVD ripped to HD and VOBs from Video_TS folder play fine using Twonky but Xvid or Divx doesn't work

I am having the same behavior trying to run the Media Server on OS X for my Samsung TV.

Based on other comments I've found around the net, if I rename my .avi file to .mov, many will now work with the Media Server, although I don't want to do that since they then won't play on my Mac. Also, there are some comments on a forum for a different DLNA server that sound like it is a header issue that the Samsung TV is expecting. I don't think there is a DLNA server yet that does what the Samsung TV wants.

Hopefully Twonky will work on compatibility issues since there are so many of these Samsung DLNA TV's popping up everywhere.

Anyone at Twonky, I would be very happy to provide beta testing help for the Samsung TV in order to get this working.

With some more info gleaned from this forum and other sources, I was somewhat successful at getting most of my avi files to play properly.

I added another entry to the clients.db file for the Samsung TV. It now plays most of my avi files. There are some that still say "Unsupported codec," so the only way to get that working would be to have the DLNA server do some transcoding for those particular types of files. I haven't figured that out yet.

I copied the entry for the PS3 and modified it, giving it a new ID#. (I just moved the avi and divx options to the mpeg line). On a Mac anyway the Clients.db file is in /Applications/Mediaserver.app/MediaServer/resources. I modified it with vi(text editor) in the terminal.

ID:098
NA:SAMSUNGTV
HH:SAMSUNGTV
DB:FIX
XM:DLNA10
XM:DATETIME
DL:MP4DLNA
HP:chunked
MT:mpeg,mpeg2,vdr,spts,tp,ts,avi,divx video/mpeg
MT:m4a audio/mp4
AV:no-m3u

Then I just selected that profile on the Clients/Security setup options in the Twonky web interface and it worked.

Good for you !
I wish that it was easy like that on my QNAP installation
I'm afraid to experiment since I have lot's of valuable data that I don't want to loose.

Thanks for this really helpful info. I have a new Samsung TV with Media 2. I needed to use the following in my clients.db:

ID:098
NA:SamsungWiselinkPro/1.0
HH:SAMSUNGTV
DB:FIX
XM:DLNA10
XM:DATETIME
HP:chunked
MT:mpeg,mpeg2,vdr,spts,tp,ts,avi,divx video/mpeg
MT:m4a audio/mp4
AV:no-m3u

Now most media also plays fine.

Hello,
I just installed yesterday myTwonky Media Sever on my ubuntu Jaunty.
My Samsung LE46B650 LCD TV can see the TMS, but i h'aven't found a "Samsung TV" media receptor client !

If i undersand, we can manually add "MEDIA RECIVER" client to TMS ?
Is it right ?
Or will TMS team add the samsung TV as media receiver in a future release ?

Your help is welcome !!
Regards,
Vincent
