HP DreamScreen

Hi
Creating this as a placeholder for the HP dreamscreen photo device. If any have any idea to make this work for photos with Twonky server 6.x then give tips here.
I will try to debug and post my result here for my own findings.
Music seems to work ok.

Only reference I found is this thread: http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.ph ... een#p26291

Regards

//Lasse

Update:
So with version 4.4.17 one can browse pictures but pictures are showed as thumbs. Rally nasty.
With 5.x or 6.x server verison the dreamscreen hangs when entering pictures even if one sets the client as a xbox360.

Twonky? Any ideas why 6.x would hang the device? Any tip for me to try

Tried Beta 4 of V6 but still the same.
Device hangs when entering a folder in the picture node. Also tried to rename the cgi-jpegscale and jpeg-scale.desc but no luck

Any got any debugging tips WHY it hangs when entering a folder that contains pictures?

Just posting that I would love to see this work. I have two of these and wish that HP would have made these use standard protocols. In lieu of that, if there was a way to make Twonky work with the HP Dreamscreen I would be ecstatic!

I don't think we'll ever see it working -:(

I do think that Twonky could fix it but it seems that they are not interested.

Hi,

Yes we do care. Thanks for the logs and posts in here. We're checking the device description and will create new client filed in clientDB. I will post it here so you can give a try. There are quite many devices on the market and we can't have those in all our offices. So situation like this we need your help and cooperation.

I hope we nail this issue and you guys will get DreamScreen working :)

Harri

Hi Lar 282,

We still need you help. Could you please take network full networkcapture between WMP12 and HP DreamScreen.
1) Switch off the device.
2) Start wireshark.
3) Start device
4) Browse pictures with DreamScreen on WMP12
5) Stop capturing
6) Post capture in the ticket you have created. We take a look on the parameters and make it work.

Thanks for your help and support,
Harri

Thanks Lasse,

We got the caps and went those through. Unfortunately it did not helped because it's shows that browse requests goes through without any issues. We also investigated if we would find something for adding our clientdb.

Currently it seems that we're a bit blind folded with this device and only way to get it work is by tweaking clientdb settings.

So first when you place this in the db you should see that in media receivers page the device will be recognized as a DreamsScreen. Could you please try this.

I will also try to get device in our office so we could investigated and probably find solution a bit faster.

Thanks for your help.

1:/ I'll try the entry. Give me an hour

2:/ Browse req should go through but should fail when entering a folder where there are pictures. Only when Twonky->DreamScreen. WMP12->DreamScreen then all is ok.

I'll get back to u when I tried the db setting..

Hi Lasse,

Thanks for the update. I already wrote quite long reply but my session seemed to expire and reply went back in bit heaven.

Here's the summary.
Could you try some other media recivers: Like generic media receiver, DLNA 1.0, Sky Perfect STB, Kodak. It would help if any of these device parameters is working.

If this doesn't help we need to create new entry for the DreamsScreen and have the xbox as a base. You have already modified the clientdb but I mean that in the future we need to have that within the release.

When we get this recognization working we need to identify the the resolution of the files that it supports. I found the wmp log that it's sending 1600x1200 size as first and then comes the transcoded ones. I think that this is the reason why it's doesn't work properly.
After the testing you could also modify the xbox one and set TR:JPEG4096x4096 to JPEG_LRG and see if helps.

Please keep me posted.
Thanks,
Harri

Sorry that it took a bit time to answer. I talked this with the team and we had few thoughts.
First server should recognize it first as I already mentioned and that's one issue.

Second one is the TR lines. I actually checked the resources the wmp is sending and it seems to have something weird first and then there are the transcoded ones. One way is to try to make this similar as it is for wmp. It depends on this client which resource is picking if the first one is not correct. I hope we could have something out for tomorrow.

Third question is that do you live in Finland I mean that you could drop by our office with the device so we could fix the issue on site. I mean if this is a possible.

Thanks,
Harri

Hi
Sorry no go on the Finland. To far from Helsingborg, Sweden -:)
Unless u wanna pay for the postage back and forward, then I could lend it to u for 2-3 weeks.

Looking forward for more testing. I'm sure u will fix it. I have faith in you.

Hi Lasse,

Ok seems that it's a bit far away :D I think this could good option to have the device in here. I need to figure out how we going to arrange it.

Meanwhile. I hope you have the backup of the original client.db available. One more thing that you could try to modify the Generic media receiver section and set it so

Currently there is the line
TR:JPEGORG,JPEG160x160,JPEG640x480,JPEG1024x768,JPEG1920x1080,MPEG
Replace with this one.
TR:JPEG_LRG

Thanks,
Harri

Generic media receiver will not work. It does not connect to Twonky server if I use that. Only xbox template will make it connect.
Does it help if u have the xml file from the client? I mean the device descriptor? If so it's here in the thread somewhere -:)
search for <INMPR03>1.0</INMPR03> in this thread and u will find it.

Hi Lasse,

Ok. I got it. When using XBOX server makes it look like MS stuff by using xbox device description.

I went through network captures again and noticed that it's trying to fetch image 640x480 and because there is no size this is not transcoded yet. You should have image transcoding in place.

Based on the information I generated new entry. Please try this one. if it's not working you could also remove the last two lines on it and check it again. In case any of my suggestions doesn't work we could try borrow your device and check out it here on site.

xnej on the latest try -:(
Connects but hangs when entering a folder with pictures.

So it hangs maybe cause of wrong size of pictures? Can I make a correct size of one picture and try? Should that be 640x480 then?

EDIT:I tried resizing but still the same. BUT when I did I thought of something.....It's delivering the picture when it hangs since I do not see the pictures. Maybe it hangs because of thumbnails? Maube WMP does something wierd and Twonkyserver does not and the client bails iut????: EDIT

That what I was thinking. Actually this image you have been browsing in WMP seems to have size 1600x1200 with content size
In Twonky network capture it's 640x480 without size. Means that it's not transcoded yet. Server will do that when this request is coming in and next time the content size is available. Anyway this shouldn't be an issue.

In general the device should see the server without spoofing it as xbox. Server is doing things differently when the xbox is selected.

I will sent you e-mail so would be great if you could lend device for us so we could deeply investigate this problem and fix it.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Harri
