Greyed out playlists

Forgive me this if is the wrong forum but I'm not sure how Twonky works. I've got a Qnap NAS and with the latest firmware update came TwonkyMedia. I can connect to it using my TwonkyManager. Music plays and the in-built playlists like 'most played' seem fine. The problem is that the 'playlists' and 'Create a new playlist' is greyed out. It looks like this is a problem with the NAS end of the deal as when I connect to a Windows Twonky server they seem ok. Where are the playlists held? Do I have to create an empty one first? Is there a well known problem with access permissions that I don't know about?
