Samsung BD-D5500 --- Works splendidly !!!

Post by amunoz_tico » Fri Jul 29, 2011 4:25 pm

Dear friends,

Finally, I replaced my Sony BDP-S370 (US Version) for a Samsung BD-D5500 (US version) due to compatibility problems with Sony ( http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8232 )

With Samsung player, I have now gained a better support for the video formats that I have (DivX, MP4, MKV, AVI). Sure, it could play MP3 and JPG files. Also, the Graphical Interface (GUI) rocks !!

I really HAPPY with my new model. My other two Samsung products (UN46C4700 and BD-C6900) work splendidly as well.

AND... there is an iPhone App for my Samsung staff!! I tested it yestarday and it works excellent. < http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/samsung- ... 80639?mt=8 >

Thanks for sharing this. Can you push media to this device via Twonky Mobile, TwonkyManager or other UPnP/DLNA DMCs?

Hi Rick.
Sorry the delay, here are my results:
  • TwonkyMobile (iPhone version) = work
    TwonkyServer = work
    TwonkyBeam = didn't work. I couldn't see the Blu-Ray under Devices section.
I will try with TwonkyManager this coming weekend.

Thanks for testing this.

When you say Twonky Mobile works do you mean you can pull media from your phone using the Samsungs remote OR you can push media to the the BD using your iPhone?

Basically, the Blu-Ray can find and play the media located on the iPhone.

I forgot to test the Beam function. Sorry!

Rick, here is an update.

- TwonkyMobile couldn't see the blu-ray player (BD-D5500). So, the beam function couldn't be tested.

- However, I could test the Beam function with my Samsung TV (UN46C7000). It could play music and photos, the videos weren't supported.

Best regards!

I can confirm that BD-D5500 works with TSmobile, but Twonky does not detect the bluray as a player. However the built-in screen share-app in my HTC Desire Z doesn´t detect the Bluray either, so it must be a Samsung Allshare-issue. If anyone have a solution I´ll be glad to hear it:)

count me in as a recovering bdp-s370 user. wow, glad i found this forum.

now, i'm going to scrap or give away this bdp-s370 and i want to ask, as its 7-2012, is there an updated samsung player or get the BD-5500?

i take it i couldn't use the WD TV live and a new blue-ray player? or is that possible? seems the WD TV Live works well with this mybooklive/twonky setup.

many thanks to whomever started this thread.

Samsung BD-D5500 is the best disc player recently I have purchased because every Sunday I see the documentary on a large screen. that's the result was brilliant and Samsung other products just like phones, L.E.D that's graphics is one of the best as compare to another competitor.
