Each manufactuers forum, I am posting a sticky poll, so others can get a instant feel if other users are happy with their purchases.

I'm only partly happy with this thing.
Negative
- it has much trouble to get an ip address from the DHCP-server. Other devices don't.
- It shows the time, but it's far from accurate.
- It is updatable via Internet, but only with a newer boot firmware, that itself can't be updated.
- the help desk is hiding behind a very expensive telephone number.
But plus:
- it can play ogg files natively
- it has a big display with big letters
- it has a 802.11g
- it's hifi
- it consumes very few watts

Agree with the DHCP thing and clock. Both my Noxon 2 units "hang" on xx:59, The clock is ALWAYS wrong. Apparantly Terratec are aware of the the problem, and it's due to be fixed in the next firmware.. How long that will be is anyones guess, as the Noxon engineers are currently wasting their time on that useless PC software that looks like a NoxonRadio...

As for the DHCP, I stick my Noxons to static a long time ago, as DHCP was too flaky. Aside from these 2 issues (neither of which are currently show stoppers, I am pretty happy with my Noxon2 units).

Happy with the unit, but think the Twonky Media should be called Wonky media. Too flaky, always having to re-initialise. For €400 hardware I expect better software.

What hardware? As I use the much cheaper Asus WL-700Ge which I can update myself with almost any sort of software I like, I can also update Twonky. If I recall i have 4.4.5 running and never had any problems with my clients (Noxon, Ziova)

@mgillespie; now that i have goven the Noxon it's own fixed ip-address, I don't have trouble with connecting anymore. And the few times I actually use it, it also shows the right time (no hard proof)

It's the best purchase I've done in years !!!

I re-discover all my cd library (I have ripped all of them on my hard drive) on my hifi with the Noxon... I'm the happiest man in the world !! :D

I am quite happy with my iRadio for iPod hardware, but the firmware is still buggy.
I never had any problems with DHCP, works like a charm here.
But there are a few annoying bugs in the firmware, like the "Zomm" display not working properly (album info disappearing, sometimes completely wrong display) and favourites to MP3 playlists (or virtually anything above radio stations) not working properly (there's a workaround, though).
The fact that Terratec charges a lot for the telephone hotline (only pre-sales hotline is free...) and hides behind freelancers in forums who try to declare all bug reports as feature requests, bugs of other parts (like Twonky!) or low priority does not fit at all to the rather high prices of the Noxon's
If I had had to pay the normal street price for the iRadio 4 iPod (>200EUR), I would never have bought it, but I was lucky to snap up a "remarketing" one for much less, and it's great fun.

Have you tried the beta firmware updates from here? They totally transformed my Noxon2, the latest beta (6909) is VERY stable...

Hello mgillespie,
Thanks for the hint.
But yes, I have 6909 installed, but is doesn't fix any of the issues I mentioned. The display bug even seems to have become worse: Sometimes not only the album name and play / shuffle etc. symbols at the bottom disappear, but even the scrolling text shows wrong info - sometimes it only shows the artist or song name (not both), sometimes the name of the playlist. Toggling through the display modes definitely fixes this, so it's not a problem of the ID3 tags. It only happens occcasionally, so I'm not sure if that issue also existed before 6909.

It is quite disappointing that Terratec isn't fixing these bugs faster. Both issues are known for several months, and both are very easy to reproduce (for the display issue just play MP3 from either Twonky, USB or iPod in Zoom mode, skip to next song, for the favourite issue just try one favourite on a m3u playlist), but although there have been updates in that time frame (only beta of course, no formal release for a looong time), they still persist. For a cheaper products such as the ipdios or Freecom Musicpal it would be somewhat easier to accept...
Cheers,
Klaus

Yes, I am happy with my Noxon iRadio, but I am having trouble using letters to "jump" to folders when I have chosen msuic / by folder. If using "Artist/Album" it works; latest firmware installed.

Will give the iRadio to the kids, thinking about buying a Logitech Squeezebox Touch for my stereo in the living room.

Cheers,

Martin
