Noxon audio Client not even longer supported by release 4.4.9 ?
I use TwonkyMedia Server on a QNAP TS-209 NAS and since update to newest Firmware including Twonky 4.4.9 my Noxon audio Client doesn´t play any longer mp3 or wma "provided" by Twonky.
I didn´t found any error in the log of Twonky (see below).
Rebuild of Database of Twonky 4.4.9 doesn´t fix the issue.
Music can still be played on PC via Browser or via TG-100 Streaming Client.
To verify that Twonky 4.4.9 is the cause I setup Twonky 4.4.9 on my old linux Server and got the same issue.
in both case I can navigate to the title to play, when choosing to play the title Noxon audio shows only the message "Connect..." and nothing more happens.
If in Twonky the option "internet radio" is configured it´s still possible to play Internet Radio station provided and streamed via Twonky.
Using Twonky 4.4.4 (the last version I have for tests) doesn´t show this issue.
The previous Twonky 4.4.6 on QNAP TS-209 doesn´t show this issue too.
Today I tested the new 4.4.11 Twonky and it has still the same issue as 4.4.9 with Noxon Audio (v1).
Additionaly (on V 4.4.9) I tried:
- Change the Media Receiver type trying different generic types (e.g.Generic DLNA 1.0) -> issue still exists
- delete and rebuild Media Receiver list -> issue still exists
- try to play an Album instead of a title -> issue still exists
Does anyone have a clue for it?
In parallel I opened a Support Case at Twonky Vision.

With 4.4.9 and 4.4.11, my Noxon 2 works ok but it is identified in the client list in Twonky as noxon audio v1. If I reset it to Noxon audio 2 and save, it appears to save ok but it always later reverts to v1.

Mine too, I don't know if its because both Noxon1 and Noxon2 identify themselves the same. But I too don't have any issues, so I don't lose sleep over it. Perhaps to keep it simple, the clientsDB entry should be Noxon1/Noxon2 !!!qnapuser wrote:With 4.4.9 and 4.4.11, my Noxon 2 works ok but it is identified in the client list in Twonky as noxon audio v1. Looking at the ClientsDB entries for each, it seems the only difference is Noxon2 accepts UTF8 text, Noxon1 does not. So that means if oyu have UTF8 tags, and it's detected incorrectly. they may not show.
Actually it seems the clientDB is out of date, certainly with the latest Noxon beta firmware, as it identifies itself as "NOXON 2", but the entry is "NOXON2". Changing the string in the clients.db makes it detect the Noxon2 correctly for me.
Will report this as a bug.

Hello bastiaan2003. I am surprised that your Noxon 1 has this issue when using Twonky 4.4.6. This version was from my experience one of the best Twonky Server and I never detected any issue on my Noxon 1.
Do you use it on Linux? I assume.
Is the permissions on the Linux Filesystem correct? This was a failure I made in the past.
Does the Internet Radio that is streamed by Twonky, not the "Noxon built-in", work?
This are just the first and more simple steps I tested in the past.

Matthias

Hi,
Yes, I am using Linux.
I gave my MP3's full rights (777) so that isn't the problem.
Also, I can't play internet radio though Twonky. I can play internet radio directly.
That the only thing I can do.
It does play using TwonkyMedia for Windows (trial version)
I'm really out of options now.... ;-(

Re: Noxon audio Client no longer supported by release 4.4.9 / 11
Hello bastiaan2003,
I am just comparing my configuration to yours and also thinking about other options to test/verify:
my whole Music Folder (on Linux Server) also has permissions 0777, same for the subfolder (= Artist) and Album Subfolder. Only the mp3 file has 0766.
I don´t see any problem here.
Did you already tried to access to Twonkys Files via Webbrowser on your PC?
The URL is like this: http://<IP of your Server>:9000/webbrowse
Here you also can play the Music, Video etc. To be honest I expect the same issue as on the Noxon audio.
Twonky Server has -opened in the Webbrowser- in the left vertical Menu the last Item "Maintenance". Here you can select different options to check issues. Maybe this supports your further analysis.
And last but not least:
On the Twonky Server Page in the Browser you have at the upper and more to the right side the "i" in a circle, clicking on it provides some information e.g. content the server has scanned.
I assume here is your Media folder(s) no of title, videos etc. visible and correct?
These are just suggestions that allow to check the Twonky Server. I use it since Version 4.3 and on two different hardware (both Linux OS) and all of them ran perfect. And I am not a Linux or Twonky expert.
Regards
Matthias

Re: Noxon audio Client no longer supported by release 4.4.9 / 11
Hello,
My folders AND my files all have 777 security. I had Fedora Core 5 running and never had a problem. Then I switched to Ubuntu 8.10 and now nothing wont play anymore. I just installed (VMware Fedora Core 10) and there the music wont play.
If I go to the webbrowser and play the music, it does play, so TwonkyServer is working a little bit
Matthias, yours is working, right? Which linux distro do you use?
Tomorrow I'm going to install Fedora Core 5 again (VMWare) and try it again on this distro.

Re: Noxon audio Client no longer supported by release 4.4.9 / 11
Hello
my both Linux Distro are very special.
1. Eisfair (a german project for a simple Linux based server)
2. QNAP TS 209 (uses a QNAP customized Linux)
I also have the Eisfair in a VMWare. This allows quickly to test the different Twonky Server version (e.g. 4.4.4, 4.4.6 etc). I have them all there.
If you can play titles provided by Twonky in your Webbrowser the issue shouldn´t be located at Twonky side otherwise it won´t play here too.
I assume you use a Windows client and IE or Firefox as Webbrowser. Are you sure that the Music file streamed by Twonky and played in the Webbrowser (precisely it´s Windows Media player) is a mp3 title? sorry to ask this "stupid" question but sometimes it can play a role.
Or is there an issue with the mp3 File(s) (coding etc) that Noxon don´t play them but Windows Media Player does?
The current infos about the issue look like this.

Re: Noxon audio Client no longer supported by release 4.4.9 / 11
Today, I even tried Fedora Core 5. This has alway worked, except I can't recall which version of TwonkyMedia I always used.
But I'm quite sure it has to do with TwonkyMedia in combinaton with Noxon now. TwonkyMedia on my Windows Vista machine works with Noxon and with Vista Windows Media player.
TwonkyMedia on my linux machineS wont work with my Noxon, but does work with Windows Media player.
Can anyone please provide me with an older version of TwonkyMedia, so I can rule that out too.
Older version is 4.4.4 or 4.4.6...
Thanx in advance,
Bastiaan

Hi Bastiaan,
I just send you via PM the Twonky Server 4.4.6 for Linux and a link to a download source if you need one for Windows.
The 4.4.6 should work sufficient. Never had any issue with this version compare to 4.4.9 and older version.

Re: Noxon audio Client no longer supported by release 4.4.9 / 11
Thanks for version 4.4.6
This version also don't work for me.
I am starting to believe this has something to do with my Noxon Audio.
One other possibillity is that this has something to do with my wireless router.
I recently changed this to a FritzBox Fon.
But that doesn't explain why the Windows version of TwonkyServer does work.
I even tried to put my MP3 on a Windows share (in Linux)
This wasnt helpful either.
Today I asked Twonky for support.
One more thing I'm gonna try is hand my Noxon over to a friend of me. He will try it as his network / linux server.
Thanks for all the good thinking...
I will let it know here.

have you tried 4.4.14?
http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=6303
Also make sure you have the multicast route setup.

Also make sure you have the multicast route setup.
from the LinuxHowto.txt
Make sure that the server file, plugins and the cgi scripts have the exe bit set.
If not, try:
"chmod 700 twonkym* cgi-bin/* plugins/*"
Eventually it is necessary to have a multicast route set for the
server by issuinge, e.g.:
"route add -net 224.0.0.0 netmask 240.0.0.0 dev eth0"

Re: Noxon audio Client no longer supported by release 4.4.9 / 11
Good news. I think this problem may have been fixed. According to the engineer who looked into this, the string was correct in 5.0, but in 4.4.15 there was "," in the entry, which caused problems with the config page. This problem has been corrected in TwonkyMedia 4.4.16. I'll make a request to get this posted here in a few days, so you can test this.
