Re: Are You Happy With Your Xbox's Media Client Capabilities?
I said no because i cant get it to stream video! i think this is an issue more to do with twonky though, I love my xbox its great!
Re: Are You Happy With Your Xbox's Media Client Capabilities?
The 360s media capabilties are basic at best. They work well, just a pity only the basis are available.
Its very interesting, that Microsoft are soo forward thinging about the gaming side of their consoles, yet they really dont understand the multi-media side of things.
Forums like this show people of all ages are really interested in digital media, and home connectivity, and if Microsoft were more forward thinking, they'd do a serious overhaul on the multi-media side of the 360 (and make the hardware quiet), and start selling loads, to all the people that are currently buying UPnP Music/Video players.

The running network consists of 1 baystack 450T vlan into 30 sections.
port 1-3 direct to internet, port 3-6 connect to 2 dlink ABG wireless access points, port 7-24 connects the local lan.
-------
Clients can consist of just about anything, ie any flavor of windows, linux, apple, mac, sparc, ect....

I used to own/operate a full service ISP totally by myself until 911 which should give you an Idea as to how complex my home network is.

Re: Are You Happy With Your Xbox's Media Client Capabilities?
The reasons I said not is:
1. Internet Radio Missing on Xbox 360 but works fine for http://192.168.1.1:9000/webbrowse .
2. Picture function doesn't seem to traverrse directories anymore.
3. Web based nav creation menu no longer exists in 5.?, wasn't so hot in 4.? anyway.
4. Directory structure seems to be missing for video on xbox 360,
I just upgraded to 5.? and so far the list above is all I have found not working for the xbox, everything else seems to work fine when accessing via a PC.
Music tracks: 1196
Photos: 0
Videos: 441
as you can see this lists photos as 0, the actual count should be in the thousands.

Re: Are You Happy With Your Xbox's Media Client Capabilities
The only thing about xbox is that it doesnt include folder directory when searching for music. All of my music is in sub folders category Bands A -Z with individual folders of the bands themselves inside on my windows home server. When you have over 2500 albums this is the only way to keep them in check. so looking for music on my xbox via band names, genre etc when not all the id3 tags are correct is very frustrating and that is why and then purchased an ipod touch and ran twonky mobile on it via my av amp. Its about time microsoft sorted this as its just not good enough

- AV Hardware:QNAP NAS TS-219 (Firmware v3.3.9 Build 0120), running Twonky Server 6.0.33
Xbox 360
Samsung LA46C650L1F TV
Re: Are You Happy With Your Xbox's Media Client Capabilities
I have a QNAP NAS TS-219 which I'm currently running firmware 3.3.9 build 0120 with Twonky 6.0.33.
My scenario is currently as follows for my .avi files with .srt subtitle files (I think there are XviD files):
1. When you using my Samsung TV (Model: LA46C650L1F) to watch movies from Twonky on NAS the subtitles work fine. (i.e. the connection here is TV <-> Router <-> Twonky on NAS).
2. When using the Xbox 360 to watch movies from Twonky on NAS the subtitles do not appear. (i.e. the connection here is TV <-> Xbox 360 <-> Router <-> Twonky on NAS).
This is a bit frustrating and I don't know if the issue has to do with Twonky, the 360, or both. Either way - it is something that definitely needs to be fixed.
