XBox360 problems: MP4 files; max # of playlists?

Post by cwuff » Wed Dec 10, 2008 5:36 am

Hello,
I've just recently installed TwonkyVision on my DNS-323 and am trying it out with my XBox360. So far things look promising, but I've run into a couple of problems I was hoping I could get some help with:
  • I have an ".mp4" file on the DNS-323. In the XBox360 interface, this file appears, but with the "cannot play" symbol (circle with line through it). However, it was able to play before when the hard drive was connected via USB...
  • I have a large number of playlists - I wrote a script that would crawl through my music directories and generate a playlist for each directory of songs I had rated 4- or 5-stars (because the XBox360 doesn't let you browse for songs by folder). However, although all the playlists are on the drive, I only see 214 of them (including the "- Last played -" and "- Most played -" ones). Is this a restriction/bug of TwonkyVision?
Thanks for your time!

I think I may have found the answers anyway, after more searching and playing around with it; in case it's of use to others, though:
- ".mp4" files don't seem to work, but renaming it to ".m4v" and having the file folders re-scanned seemed to do the trick. (thanks to FeejerFiend for his reply in another thread)
- the rest of my playlists did eventually show up. I think it just took a bit longer than expected, and the 360 may have cached an incomplete listing.

Thanks...
