How to get srt subtitles work with TwonkyMedia 6.0.39 + PS3?

Post by seattlegrunge » Tue Apr 10, 2012 8:43 am

I have searched for a solution but I can't find any that works.

Streaming from my qnap to my ps3 works excellent, but when it comes to movies with external srt subtitles the subtitle doesn't work. Why?
The movie file is a Xvid AVI file and the srt subtitle file has exactly the same file name as the avi file (except the file extension of course). Both these files are in the same folder.

I have a Qnap NAS TS-109 Pro II with firmware 3.3.2 buil 0918 (latest) and QPKG plugin TwonkyMedia 6.0.39 (latest) and also the latest firmware on my PS3. Why does TwonkyMedia not stream the subtitles to my PS3? As far as I know it should work.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I was told that TwonkyServer only supports subtitles on Samsung TVs. TwonkyServer is a UPnP/DLNA media server and doing subtitles over UPnP is not that common.
