Unsupported Format video FSG-3 -> PS3

Post by PopePhil » Wed Jun 11, 2008 9:32 pm

Hi
first posting here, so please excuse if this is well covered.
I've just set up my Freecom FSG-3 with Twonky 4.2 Beta 5 (the version that comes with the unit), and I'm trying to stream to my PS3. Photos and music are fine, but all videos are showing as Unsupported. I've rebuilt the database, and tried changing the Client type (PSP, Generic, Sony Media reciever) to no avail.
The files in question work ok from USB stick and dvd. Am I going to have to re-encode them?

If the solution is to get the latest version of Twonky, do I have to pay for it? (am also rather scared for trying to install it on the FSG-3, not having any linux skills of note)

ta in advanced

further to this. I have updated to the latest FSG firmware, and therefore updated Twonky as well - the problem with video files on my PS3 persists

Interesting development; I've renamed all my DivX files to have .mpg extensions... and they now all work! Intriguingly, so do XviD files :o

I'm on v.4.4.2, btw
