PS3 Video Streaming Problems Since 2.40 / 2.41?

Seems Sony have changed the DLNA handshaking string used by TwonkyMedia to understand client specific information. The result of this change, is the PS3 may be incorrectly identified as a Generic DLNA 1.0 device in the clients table.
If you are experiencing problems with media not being streamed correctly or other strange behaviour, you should check this setting (in the Clients/Security page), ensure the IP address of your PS3 is listed as PS3, if not manually change it, save and restart the server.
This information is correct of 4.4.5 and 5.0B1.

So is there going to be an offical fix for this coming from Twonky to recognize the new ID string? I am running on a NAS200 and I can't edit the clientsDB file.

I can confirm that this fix worked for me. Also, I didn't have to restart the TM server after the change, but I did have to re-search for media servers and re-access the server from the PS3 XMB.
Thanks for the fix info!

Thank you very much for the information. I had to reload my WHS and reload Twonky and once it was all running I couldn't copy to my PS3 everything was "Unsupported Format" I forgot my PS3 updated.
I saw this and made the setting change and it works again! YAY. Thanks.

4.4.6 released with updated clients.db It now correctly identifies both pre-2.40 and post 2.40 firmware on PS3 clients..
Get it from here:
http://www.twonkymedia.com/Download/Two ... index.html
This is now the preferred method of fixing this issue, please disregard the above temporary solution.

Downloaded and installed 4.4.6, and, sadly, this doesn't correct the random inability of the PS3/Twonky environment to play .mts and .m2ts files. Still the same problem as after the 2.4x updates. The PS3 can see some of the files, but can't see others on a random basis.
Am I missing something? Is there a patch, entry, or trick to enable the same Twonky/PS3 functionality that we all had prior to the 2.4x updates? As has been noted here on these boards, prior to the 2.4x updates on the PS3, Twonky could play any and all .m2ts and .mts files on the server.
My theory now is that is a far bigger issue than just the renaming of the clients.db file, and, I'm not "blaming" Twonky/PacketVideo. I just hope someone can develop a code fix so we can go back to the status quo ante the 2.4x update disaster.

Was it ever supposed to? The release notes clearly document what's changed, and it's PS3 client indentification, nothing else.

"...was it ever supposed to?"
It used to. Prior to the 2.4x Sony updates. That's what made it so killer. I just wish it was the way it was. No blame. Just hoping.

dowloaded and installed what Twonky calls the 4.4.6 version.
Funny enough, after install the Twonky configuration page reports ..Version 4.4.7 (?)
In the Security/Client page now you can chose as client a "PS3 with Firmware 2.4 or higher"
Anyway no changes at all in the MTS/MT2S streaming problem, still "unsupported data"

I'm away from home until the weekend but was looking at the twonkyvision-mediaserver.ini (for twonkymedia 4.4.6 and noticed a couple of settings I may experiment with at the weekend.
The first one is dlnastrict=0. On the basis that 0=false I'm wondering it changing it to "1" makes the DLNA handling in twonky tighter. I'm just wondering if Sony have tightened up the DNLA handshaking in 2.4x
The other on is the streambuffer=16384 setting. I may try (as a test) putting this up by a factor of 50 to see if it makes any difference.
of course, if you get a chance to try this before I do I would be interested to know the results
My version of twonky (4.4.6) is running on Windows Media Server PP1 (without Pvconnect installed)

No good news from me.
I spoke to PS3 support at Sony who first advised me to restore the PS3 - which takes about 3 hours an achieved nothing.
I then had the call escalated to a product specialist who offered to swap the unit out but I declined this on the basis that as far as I am concerned the hardware is fine.
The assistant (who was doing his best to be helpful) said "we have never heard of this before". I suggested he googled "PS3 2.41 streaming" and looked at this thread...OH was the reply!
I was then told that m2ts was an unsported format for streaming as the format is not recognised by Sony. I then explained the files came from a Sony camcorder and can come from BluRay and there was a silence...
Oh well, surely 2.43 cant make this any worse!

Pretty sure M2TS is nothing to do with Blu-ray, as that's usually H.264/AVC
I think they only things that produce M2TS are camcorders.

I am running Twonky 4.4.6 on Linux and trying ot stream AVCHD files from my Sony camcorder on a PS3. My experience is the same as others here - worked great until 2.4x. I've spent a lot of effort trying to resolve this. Recently I put a 320GB HD in my PS3 and just copied all the AVCHD files there to play locally. To my surprise, they all experienced major audio sync issues about 15 minutes into playback even though they didn't have this issue pre-2.4x when played via Twonky. I'm concluding that the new PS3 firmware actually screwed up AVCHD playback overall, not just streaming.
My new solution is to convert my AVCHD files to HD MPEGs with TMPGEnc and use Twonky again. This works fine except the 5.1 audio gets converted down to stereo. I've concluded this is the best solution for now.

No, M2TS is actually used as a container for Blu-Ray.

The problems with streaming the AVCHD (m2ts) files seem to be fixed with the latest update 2.5

. The only problem is the scene selection feature which was added in update 2.5 locks up for the AVCHD files

. It works great with the others though (DivX, etc.).
