Installing and Using Twonky with PS3

Post by bsdaiwa » Mon Aug 04, 2008 12:23 pm

Can someone point me to a location that explains how the PS3 is setup for the first time using Twonky? Do you load Twonky on the PS3 or is it loaded on a PC? Is the PS3 the storage device or do you use your PC or NAS for storage? What is the function of the PS3?

Thanks for the assistance.

Twonky is loaded on the PC, not on the PS3.

The PC can be the storage device; a NAS device must either be accessed through the PC or else run Twonky natively (see supported devices). You can use the PS3's hard drive for local storage independent of Twonky.

The PS3's function is as a client device, where Twonky appears as a media server under XMB.

Hope this helps.

Just be aware that if your PS 3 is firware version 2.4x or higher you may well have problems streaming certain types of media (well documented in this forum)

if your PS3 is running version 2.36 of the firmware (a) dont update and (b) can I buy it !!!!
