Using Twonkymedia 5.1.2 Linux ARM build (on Sheevaplug), 100Mbit LAN wired to my PS3 via a Netgear DG834N router. The PS3 has latest firmware (3.15).

When I view a large picture, it displays fine, but when I close the file, I pretty much always get a very long pause and eventually a 80710723 network error. If I view smaller pictures, it seems fine.

Obviously, as digital cameras are getting higher resolution, the problem is being more and more of a problem.

Anyone else seening this problem?

I wonder if it is the same thing I experienced on DNS-323 to do with rescaling?

Using solutions posted by others in this forum I edited twonky\resources\clients.db and added XM:NOTRPICS under PS3 and the problem went away.

It seemed like my DNS-323 was just losing its mind trying to rescale pics larger than 800x600 because 5.1.2 ignores norescale=1 in the .ini file as far as I can tell.

I also have the same problem with the new 5.x version. This problem didn't occurred in the previous 4.x version.

In fact in 4.x version, i didn't had any problem with twonky!

I tryed to use the "XM:NOTRPICS" in the twonky\resources\clients.db file, but it didn't worked.

Is there any fix for this problem?

95% use of twonky use is to stream my (huge) photo collection to the PS3!

Any help please?

I have asked for a ticket to be raised to look at this. The problem to me seems the wide range of devices that Twonky supports, low cpu power on a fast network (in which case it's better to NOT rescale), or high power PC on slow networks (better to rescale), and the worse of all slow PC on slow network (???). In the case of a PC on a Wifi network, clearly it's going to be quicker to rescale than send it across Wifi, but on a low power NAS connected via wired ethernet, it's likely to me more efficient to send the full image.

It's almost as if there needs to be a way to work out network speed, and be more intelligent about what is best to do. Or at least allow users to have somecontrol. Favor recale or now...

I'm using a QNAP NAS with Intel Atom 1.6GHhz processor with a wired (100mb) network and i'm not resizing the images.

If i use PS3 Media Server i haven't any problem related to the network (or other), neither did i had with the previous version of twonky (4.x).

I'm glad that your engineer is trying to solve this problem with this twonky version.

Hi,

I haved checked all the files and there was a problem with my cliends.db file.

I corrected the problem and the "XM:NOTRPICS" option solved my problem.

Everything is working fine with no problems.

Now i'm trying to use the FLAC decoder. :):)

I had the same problem.
I added the XM:NOTRPICS Option to clients.db, but still had the same problem.

After rebuilding the database... the problem was gone.

Everything works perfekt now.
