Pictures thumbnails loading extremely slowly on my ps3

Hi,
I have an external hard drive (MyBook world edition) which has twonky pre-installed on it.
I used to be able to see my pictures normally on my ps3 up until the last update. Whenever I open my pictures folder on my ps3, the thumbnails take forever to load and I cannot access the picture until the thumbnail loads.
Any help would be much appreciated !
