Anyone have any luck with FF/REW of MPEG-2 on PS3?
I know that we have seen a few posts on the subject over the last few days. I was wondering if anyone has been able to get FF/REW to work using Twonky and PS3? If so, what platform are you using? Is there any indication of an upgrade to fix the problem?

Thanks for the quick reply
I have noticed that anything in MP4, properly encoded of course, plays fine. I would hate to have to recode over 300GB of home movies, so that's why a fix would be great.
This is a terrific product. Keep up the good work.

What program are you using to encode to MP4? The PS3 seems very picky about the codec used. I followed the advice of several others and used the Redkawa program to encode to MP4 and only then did my test video work. Unfortunately Redkawa does not seem to be able to take uncompressed AVI and encode directly to MP4.THE REVENGE wrote:then what am i doing wrong because mp4 just wont play from my Mac.
TS_ files do but have no know duration and all mp4 are "incompatable" trough twonky

Redkawa doesn't seem to be able to recognize the AVI from my Sony DV camcorder. If I encode to mpeg-2 and then use the Redkawa to transcode to MP4 it will play on both the PC and the PS3 through Twonky. However, I think I am getting some serious quality loss through the transcoding process.starhubble wrote:I tried this, and the resulting MP4 file plays back nicely on my PC, but when I stream it to the PS3 all I get is sound, no video.theberk wrote:Unfortunately Redkawa does not seem to be able to take uncompressed AVI and encode directly to MP4.

I've used 480p, 192k sound, the non AVSynth profile, and had absolutely no problems with MP4 video..
Can anyone suggest a good free hosting site, I can upload a working streaming MP4 video for others to try later...

This clip uploaded here (35MB) is MPEG4, AVC with AAC audio, and works perfectly for me on PS3 and TwonkyMedia 4.4 Beta 2 (Win/Linux) FF/REV/PAUSE works perfectly..
