missing media

Post by esorin » Sat Dec 01, 2007 5:40 pm

Hi,

First, let me say that I am using TV for music only at the moment, but this problem could possibly include missing photos and video as well.

I have been using TV since the 2.x days and have always been very happy with things. In the last few months I've upgraded from the very dependable TV 2.9 to version 4.4.2 (which I thought was solid). I soon found that a few of my 11000+ mp3's were missing from the server database. I verified this using Windows Media Player and TV 2.9, both of which found all of my files just fine and showed the proper tags.

I then copied those 7 missing songs into a new directory called "missing music" and .... Viola! Now TV 4.4.2 sees them. Odd, since it doesn't see any of them when they are in the directory in which they belong. These songs are off of different albums and have no apparent similarities in terms of tags, file size, etc. It appears that this is just random, and obviously very annoying.

Now I have added some new music, and again this is a problem. I have tried to rebuilding the DB, reinstalling TV 4.4.2, and other minor efforts to diagnose this problem to no avail ... Please advise!

If you're using TV 4.4.x for a large number of mp3's, I highly suggest you scan your collection with a second software such as WMP or TV2.9 to see if you're getting access to all of your music ...

Thanks!

not all media files listed

I installed Twonky on a PC with about 2000 mp3 music files.

I set the scan parameter to 1 and also pressed the scan button, so that Twonky should be able to collect all files.

The server is running now for more then 1 day, but still several only <50% of the files are listed on the web page and the Philipy SLA5520.

On the same PC I have the Philips Media Manager running to compare the two product. There I do sess all the files.

Any idear what I can to?

Regards
Martin

I'm experiencing the same problem for my pictures (DLINK DNS323 + XBOX360) Not all files from the same folder get indexed. Quite frustrating :(
