Copying from VISTA laptop painfully slow

Gurus,

What is the current word on using VISTA clients to fetch content stored on a ReadyNAS NV [X-RAID] with firmware RAIDiator 4.00c1-p2 [1.00a037]?

I am using the wireless adapter on a ThinkPad X61s. Copying 190 MB reports 9h to completion... ludicrous.
