the twonkymedia 5.0 does not see my network drives

Post by liffey » Tue Dec 16, 2008 10:37 pm

Hello,

Just installed the software and wanted to add my network drive with my music on it but the software doesn't see my drive. Anyone an idea how to fix this?

Windows vista.
Philips streamium.
twonkymedia 5.0

All other computers in the network can see the drive.

Hi,

Here is how you can use a network drive for your media:

You have to change the default Service account it uses to one with network rights.

So, go to Start -> Run -> "Services.msc" (without quotes)

Search for Twonkymedia and click properties.
Go to the Sign-on tab and change the property from "Local-System Account" to "This Account:".

Click "Browse" and fill in your own username (or one with network rights).
Now click check "Check names" and Ok.

Now just fill in your password twice (if you have one, otherwise make it blank).

Just press Apply and Ok.

Now, last item:
rightclick on the service again and click restart.

REMINDER:
- You might need to reconfigure your mediafolders and other settings because you're using a new Account.

Hi Jeroen,

Thank you for your time in the first place.
I followed your steps, encountered some trouble but now the service is running under my account, as administrator with network rights. But then the following problem comes up, my browser can't access the the configuration of the server anymore...

my philips stramium can see the server, strange, i would say!

Any suggestion?

Hi everybody!

I've got the same problems and followed the instructions above. But I can't see my networkdrives, yet.
I'm very sad cause with the old version 4.xxx it worked well on my system.
I had disabled the Twonky-System-Service and started it through the Autostart-Folder.
The disadvantage was, that after restart I had to logon once to get the service started. But it worked.

To the developers of TwonkyMedia: PLEASE work on this problem!!!
