Hello Forum, after fiddling around for a while, I’d like to ask for your help. First, the environment:
XP SP3 with Twonky-Versions 4.4.9 and 5.0.68
Buffalo NAS box with Linux and Twonky 4.4.8
iTunes 9.0.0.70
Clients: IExplorer, iPod and TV (Loewe Connect with Media Player)
I started with ripping my CDs with iTunes into mp3 files and updated the information about every single file, e.g. harmonizing different spellings on different CDs. All files, mp3 as well as the iTunes library, are stored on the NAS-box. To use this data with Twonky I installed the mentioned versions one after another and always encountered the same success (all 14,800 files found and accessible) but also the same problems in all versions.
Problem 1:
Only a small fraction of composers is found (32 out of 1477). I have triple-checked iTunes and the actual mp3-tags: they contain all the needed data. Twonky’s log files do not give me any indication why some are imported while most composers are skipped.
I read many Forum-entries about the problem reporting that composers are totally ignored in certain environments and data formats, but I never read about a partial result like this. So, what went wrong? Any ideas how I can gain a complete list of composers?
Problem 2:
I appreciate the current efforts to support classical music by adding the branch “Composer†in the music tree of version 5.1. But I am also looking for a field allowing to store information about the composition. A brief explanation: Most compositions, from symphonies to musicals, consist of several parts which are identified each by a title and are separately handled by Twonky. But to address an entire composition, e.g. Lloyd Webber’s “Catsâ€, you need an extra data entry, which is not the same as an Album or a Playlist. iTunes provides such a field (English: “Groupingâ€, German: “Werkâ€) and I would like to forward this information to Twonky as well. I would not hesitate to abuse an mp3-tag or a Twonky-field for this information, but to do so I need more information about the import details or - even better - a sample solution. Is there anything available for that purpose?
