Video transcoding for Sony Bravia

Post by kobus » Thu Mar 04, 2010 12:43 pm

I am trying to figure out how to get this video transcoding to work for my Sony Bravia tv for some time now.
Until now without any success...

My problem is that I have lots of avi (DivX/XviD) files which I would like to play on my Sony Bravia. Since the Sony Bravia can only play mpeg2, I need to transcode these files from avi to mpeg2.

Is there anyone who already got this working? Or is there a transcoding howto available somewhere?

Hello,

did you make any progress on this topic? As the Bravia only understands MPEG2-PS all files should be transcoded to this format by Twonky - that's also my theory.

But I don't know if Twonky is capable to do this. I only want to stream DVD/ISO/VIDEO_TS which are already MPEG2 files basically but anyway a transcoding to MPEG2-PS seems to be inevitable for the Sony Bravia to show and play back the files.

I am not going to convert my complete collection to REAL MPEG2-PS files. ;) Hope I'll find a solution...

Cheers Bill
