How to create (and use) playlists on TwonkyServer (Mac)

OK, so I've searched for how to create a playlist for TwonkyServer (on the Mac) and I've found a some references to using VLC to build up the playlist, then select "Save Playlist..." and presto!

Unfortunately, that playlist doesn't show up either in the TwonkyServer Media Manager (HTML or Flash) nor does it show up on any media devices - perhaps because I don't know _where_ to save the playlist.

Is there a special directory where playlists are expected to be found?
What about magic filenames/extensions that are required?
Some configuration that needs to be set?

If anybody can give me a few pointers that will help me create and use a playlist I would greatly appreciate it.
