Why are some file types not visible???

Post by Chippy_boy » Tue Dec 14, 2010 2:58 pm

I have been trying to find a way to stream MKV's to my Sony Blu-ray player (me and the other 50 million people!)

Someone suggested renaming the MKV's as AVI's, but for some reason when I do this, Twonky doesn't seem to pick them up. I can't browse to the .AVI files on my Sony, or even on my PC using the PC Media Browser - they just don't show up. Of course I have rescanned the directories and restarted the server and rebuilt the database etc, but no matter what I do, the AVI files do not appear.

Does anyone know why this is, and how to fix it?

There is no solution to this problem that I am aware of -- other than to convert or transcode your files to a format which your Sony device can play. Sony devices filter formats which they can not play. There is nothing we can do to make them appear.

Thanks for the reply, but you don't understand.

The .AVI's do not appear on ANY device. I can't see even see them on my PC. Twonky is just not serving them up.... for some bizarre reason.

In fact it's even more wierd: If I have just one .avi file in a folder, Twonky doesn't even display the folder.

Surely someone must know why this is happening (and how to fix it)?
