I've recently installed the trial version of TwonkyMedia Server (6.0.28) on my Macmini (Snow leopard)
I have a Panasonic Viera TH-P50VT20A
Both are wired to the same switch
I can get mp3's, pictures and avi's to work just fine.
Where I'm having problems is with .m4v files. I've gone through many hours/weeks of taking my DVD collection and formatting it so it works great in iTunes (And TwonkyMedia server does a great job of finding all the media), but it just can't play the .m4v files on my TV.
Now, the TV supports mpeg2 and DivX.
I have added the transcoding for ffmpegX as shown elsewhere, and have modified the .location file and have created a transcoding description file for mp4 to mpg (also shown elsewhere in the forums)
When I look in clients.db, I see that there is nothing showing for mpeg2, only avi. So, I'm assuming that a line has to be added for support of mpeg video files. Is that correct? However, after much digging about in these forums I can't find info on how to set up the clients.db correctly.
So, anyone have a similar config and got it working?
Anyone point me to some more info that may help?
Thanks and regards
Siobhan

Re: panasonic Viera, Mac and m4v (mpeg 4)
Well, I just got a call from Panasonic Customer Service. It seems that they only test 2 DNLA servers, Windows 7 and TwonkyServer, and that is only for Windows too.
So, there is no support, from Panasonic, for Mac users.
I highlighted the complete lack of support from Twonky themselves, especially the lack of documentation.
Expect a call from Panasonic.
There is no way I can justify a purchase of this software with the "help" and lack of doco so far.

Re: panasonic Viera, Mac and m4v (mpeg 4)
I've just tried using a sample .MPG (MPEG 2) file to see if that would work. It works slightly more than the MPEG4 option but I still get the 'unsupported file' message.
Any ideas Twonky???
Any other competitor software I can try?
Thanks

PSM PS3 Media Server works pretty well. Functionality is a little limited though.
