How do I separate multiple track artists?

Hi,

when a song is performed by more than one track artist how do I separate them in the mp3 tag?
Right now I have tagged my files like this:
Artist1; Artist2

But Twonky detects them as one Artist: "Artist1; Artist2".

How can this be changed so Twonky treats them as two track artists?
Artist1
Artist2

According to the ID3 wikipedia article (link below), the convention for seperating multiple values in ID3v2.3 is to use /.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3

I have never tried to do this so I don't know if Twonky will interpret it as you want.

Hi parnott,

thanks for the hint. I've tried this, rescanned dirs and rebuild the db.
But now it's displayed as:
Artist1 / Artist2

so no change.

Hi

As far as I know, the only multiple entry feature in Twonky is with the genre tags. It's a bespoke Twonky thing in that it doesn't work by creating multiple entries, but instead recognises comma separated entries in the one tag. The best way to describe it is by example, so if you were to populate a genre tag as shown below (note the lack of spaces after the commas):

Classical,Classical - Piano,High Resolution,Chilled

It would appear under all of the following genre entries:

Chilled
Classical
Classical - Piano
High Resolution

To be honest, it would be better if it were done by recognising multiple tags (to make it more convensional and thus prevent you seeing a huge genre entry on things like Sonos CP's) but it's still a really fantastic feature and I use it for many of my albums. As to cross compatibility, if you use the main genre as the first one (in the above example, I've put 'Classical' first) then that means it'll at least be grouped with the other ones beginning with 'Classical' when viewed on a Sonos or SlimServer based system.
