Samsung TV PS51D6900 all mkv's "not supported file format"

Hi team,

I've been using Twonky Sever with my Samsung TV PS63C7000 for a good month or so and it's been fantastic. It plays all my videos. Alot of which don't need transcoding during streaming as the TV supports alot of file types. MKV, etc

I bought the latest model Plasma TV PS51D6900 hoping to have this same experience. However, when I connected the new tv, while I could browse files via the server without problem. When I went to play 99% of the video's they all give the "not supported file format" error. When I know that the TV supports those video formats because a) they work when played from an attached USB drive and b) they play on the other Samsung TV I have. Also the manual confirms that both TV's will play these particular format videos.

Is there a setting within one of the config files that I might need to adjust to better recognise this TV so that the videos will play?

Thanks

Nick

Samsung TVs support different formats from USB and over the network. Also, just because one range supports a particular file doesn't mean another will. Yes, it's logical that it should, but even a firmware upgrade can break format support.

However, have you checked that the TV is set as a Samsung TV in Twonky?

Thanks mate. I knew there was an easy answer. For some reason the tv was being detected as a different media receiver. So I changed it to samsung tv and problem fixed!

Second question. Is there a way with twonky sever to freely browse directories without needing to scan files? I would like to be able to plug in my 3tb USB drive and then browse to the drive and not have to have the whole drive scanned. Also helpful for my ethernet drive if I could freely browse the \\mybookworld address

Is there a feature that allows this or can be added to the config files?

This is a feature of wild media server which is very useful. Everything loads very fast also because the tv doesn't need transcoding from the media server for most files.

As far as I know it has no support to allow browsing of unscanned content. However, it doesn't do transcoding by default so, in my experience, it's pretty fast at serving up folders.
