setting for rescaling images

Sorry, I'm not so familiar with twonky.
I'm using the twonky server on my NAS RS810+ running under Linux.
Everything is working fine so far.
But I'm not satisfied with the picture quality.
Can somebody explain me how the rescaling is working? I see my pictures down scaled to 960x600.
But my iPad2 and TV has an higher resolution.
How can I define the settings? Is it possible to do this related to end device.
Every explanation is welcome.

Thanks.

on the ipad what are you using to view the pictures in?
when viewing on the tv what is the client device the tv or the ipad or other?
what version of server are you using?

the reason i ask, is certain versions of server, act differently with some things etc.

On iPad I'm using the apps AirPlayer or MLPlayer, but the picture quality is the same.
I have also a Kodak digital picture frame. There I see also the Low Resolution of the pictures.
For the Tony Server I have the latest Release installed (6.0.37).
In the ini file I found a parameter for the max dot resolution. Currently there is nothing set.

sorry for all the ?'s
but when you choose a picture on the ipad
how are you getting to the pictures, via safari?
what is the picture being viewed in safari ?
and you then open with airplay?

for testing, if you went to a pc
and then from a browser, went to the url of server on the nas
look at the same picture, does it show scaled from a broswer on a computer

just trying to see where the scale issue is being introduced

one thing that you could try also
is in the twonky server ini
is to limit what the scaler can handle

# specifies the maximum image size in pixels the scaler can handle
scalermaxpixels=1

which in effect should render scaleing null and void

At first thanks for your answers. No problem with getting questions.
If I look to the oictures directly from the PC I get the right format. Of cause the size of the brower will scale the picture (if set).
But on my iPhone, iPad, Kodak digital picture viewer I see the pichtures in a low ratio and quality..
Using the Airplay app, I don't need any extra browser (like Safari).
I will try the setting "1" for scalermaxpixels and let you know.
As device type I'm using "generic media receiver" with "extended navigation".

there are some other factors at play here

for ex:

but in any case I know rick is forwarding this problem on to the devs
