Unstable Server since 6.0.37-Update

Post by nice » Mon Oct 31, 2011 6:06 pm

Since I updated to 6.0.37 from 35 (or around), the Server doesn´t respond to my Samsung LE46C650 after around 10-20minutes of each Video. Directly thereafter, the TV says to each Video, that the Format is unknown.
Then, around 10minutes later (I think after reinitialisation), I can play Videos again. But with this procedure, a Movie takes 4 hours and is anoying
The Server is a HP x312 with WHS2007 (2003 Server as Core)

I think your problems may be more related to this event log message-

Code: Select all

It seems to be a well known problem. Read here- http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w ... a021a2829b

nope... I just "deactivated" the warnings with simply renaming the CqvSvc.exe, because its just useless, as i found out.
But the Error remains...

another thing, I have seen: anytime, there are pairs of error-messages. The first one is every time at adress 0x0000da53, the second one any time at another adress.

If you want, I can send you the log. But I wont write it in the forum. maybe per PM or so?

When was the last time you did a chkdisk on your hard drive?

I´m gonna test it right now, but I cant believe in an error like that.
All other services, my server hosts, are stable. Before the last Update, Twonky ran stable. And now, the Error occurs in every video at a random point. If I go some seconds or minutes in front of where the last error happened, it is not a restorable/reconstructable error.
It even sometimes happens, that the server quits even on showing the folder list on the TV.

Edit:
So, especially for you, I did chkdsk on all disks... not a single error or even a warning.

Then I think you need to submit an official support request. http://www.twonkymedia.com/ContactUs.aspx

Will do. If you have any server logs saved, you can e-mail them to me at tmm-beta@pv.com.

Good news. They have created a ticket for this issue. To check on the status of this issue in the future, please ask me about DLNA-5954.

In order to move forward with this you e-mail me a log file that covers this crash. Start with a clean log, share only one video and the go through the steps that cause the crash. We want to log to be as short as possible. Send the log to tmm-beta@pv.com

If I do not get a log, no progress will occur with this issue.

I am not quiet sure, but is it possible, that damaged Meta-Data causes my behaviour?
Today I also deleted the Meta-Data and now, i was able to look 2 Movies without Problems. The - maybe only in my Eyes - strange Thing is... i am not using any Meta-Data as my only Client is my TV and as far as I know, it is not used there?!

I also deactivated the automated USB-Sharing and my Audio-Collection in the same Step, but I think, the Meta-Data is more possibly the Reason.
We will see in some Days, if it is stable now, but I am not at home up to Thursday. So, if you want me to test something, it will last some time.

Yes, it is possible that a corrupted media file (or files) could cause problems like this. If you find other files with bad metadata, it would be great if we could get them so we could determine why this is happening.

Here is some other things for WHS users to consider:

1) When using recent TS on WHS: First uninstall all old WHS specific (Add In) Twonky installations, then do a clean install of the new one.

2) File system eventing is not supported on WHS, set the scantime to a value > 0

Rick

I did not know that File system eventing is not supported on WHS with 6.x

However, just to add to the confusion =)
I am currently running 6.0.34 and on WHS, the first one not the 2011
and I have scantime=-1 which for is working for me
whenever I copy a file to the server via a share
it sees that file and adds it to the db fairly quickly

I think the fact that you have your scantime=-1 is one reason it is working. :D
