Hi guys,
I`m running twonky on a MyBook World Edition White Light NAS, and using a PS3 as a media renderer. I`ve just upgraded Twonky to 6.0.38. I then added a mkv file to mybook. It shows up in PS3, but as a file type not supported. I thought this upgrade had mkv support? I`ve restarted both twonky and mybook to no avail.
Also, I can`t seem to be able to load subtitles on twonky. I`ve an avi file on mybook with a srt file with the same name. The video plays just fine, but no subtitle at all. Please help.
Cheers,
Pedro

I don't believe the PS3 can play MKV files natively.

Same situation with external subtitles via DLNA.

It doesn`t. But I thought the media server was supossed to do the decoding of the file? For example, when I run PS3 Media Server on my mac I can stream mkv and subtitles to PS3 no problem.

A media server just bit-streams the file. It does not decode the file, that is what the mediaplayer does.
PS3 mediaserver transcodes and remuxes the files to be compatible with the PS3.
Twonky will stream any files that are natively supported by the PS3.
